owls can hear but they don't like to listen. the owl who rents a branch in my backyard almost never pays rent, i don't think he has a job, cuz he sleeps all day, comes home at all hours of the night drunk and belligerant, hooting and hollering about nothing...i tried to talk to him, just rolls his eyes and looks in the opposite direction...
